As an international student, you need a police clearance certificate (PCC) to apply for your student permit.
Original Police Clearance
Students above 18 years of age are required to submit a police clearance certificate from the country they have lived in for the past 6 months. The certificate should be in English or French, and if translated, it should be notarized by a certified government body. This process differs depending on the country, but in general, you will need to visit a local police station to confirm you have no criminal records. This process takes anything from a few days to 6 weeks depending on the country. We recommend that you start this process as soon as possible in order to receive the police clearance before you travel to Rwanda.
Important: The certificate must be valid for at least 3 months after your arrival in Rwanda.
Your original police certificate of character may expire depending on your country. If your police certificate of character has an expiry date, please make sure it has a validity of at least 3 months after arrival in Rwanda. If your police certificate of character has no expiry date indicated, it is valid at the date of issue and should have a validity of at least 3 months after arrival in Rwanda.
