How to apply for an Entry Visa?

In Rwanda, an entry visa can be applied online or on arrival for citizens coming from anywhere in the world. Please visit the IREMBO website and Rwandan Migration website to see requirements for each country to receive a visa on arrival. Requirements differ based on your passport so please read carefully! You will need to bring certain original hard copy documents to receive your entry visa on arrival at the airport.

Please download this form, print it, fill it out, and bring it with you.

Please note: The Entry visa fee depends on your nationality and type of passport document you hold. See more information on the sites above.

Critical information for prospective students traveling on an international refugee passport:

If you are a refugee, but not based in Rwanda, you will need an international refugee passport issued by your country of residence or an ordinary passport issued by the immigration office from your country of origin. If you travel on an international refugee passport, you will need to pay $100 upon arrival at the Rwandan airport for an entry visa as Refugees are considered stateless. If you have an ALU scholarship, this amount will be covered as part of your scholarship package.

Important:

  • An entry visa is NOT a student permit.
  • Entry permit is required for all international students.
