Are students required to have medical insurance?

Yes. All students are required to have health insurance. ALU mandates that all local and international students must have health insurance. Once you have been admitted to ALU, you can either opt in for ALU Health Insurance or provide your own private health insurance. All of this can be done on your Admissions Portal.

Also, ALC mandates that all students studying at ALC have an adequate health insurance plan covering the duration of their studies in Mauritius. Local students may be exempt.

During registration, you can opt-in for ALC-provided Health Insurance or provide evidence of personally-sourced health insurance. All of this can be done on your student Portal. Students who do not provide evidence of personally sourced health insurance will be automatically opted-in to ALC-provided health insurance and billed for it.

ALU expects all student community members to be dedicated to reducing the risk of illness and/or injury. This includes compliance with this policy and procedures and Rwandan and Mauritian national health and safety legislation.
