Mauritius Student Entry Permit Application Process

Modified on Fri, 9 Oct at 2:54 PM

1. Register a NELS account. International Prospective Students register their accounts on the National Electronic Licensing System (NELS).

2.  Institutional enrolment and enrolment key. ALCHE enrols the student in NELS. Once the enrolment is successful, the system generates a unique student enrolment key, which is shared with the international prospective student via email, to use when submitting their entry permit application.

3. Complete the entry permit application. International Prospective Students log in to NELS, select the relevant student entry permit application, and complete the required fields using their official documents.

4. Upload supporting documents. These include the passport biodata page, passport-sized photo, the required medical reports, police character certificate, financial statements, accommodation, and proof-of-address documentation. Those below 18 years of age are also required to submit a consent form from their guardians as well as the guardian’s identification document.

5. Review and submit the application. International Prospective Students check that all information matches their passport and supporting documents, ensure scans are legible, and then submit the application through NELS.

6. PIO review and decision. The Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) reviews the application. The average turnaround time for an entry permit application is 23 days after submission.

  • If an application is marked for resubmission or rejected, the prospective student will have to address the feedback and resubmit as required.

7. Permit approval and travel. Students should ONLY book flights for travel after their student entry permit has been issued. When traveling to Mauritius, they are required to bring with them all the hard-copy documents they used to apply for the entry permit.

Important: Prospective Students should ensure their names and passport details match across all documents, and that medical reports and other supporting documents are complete and legible before submission.
