Waitlist Mastercard Scholarship FAQ

Modified on Tue, 2 Dec at 2:03 PM

What Does It Mean to Be Waitlisted for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program?

If you have received a waitlist decision for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, this means your application was strong and competitive, but unfortunately there were more qualified applicants than available scholarship slots for that intake.

Being waitlisted is not a rejection. It means you are still being considered.

What Happens After You Are Waitlisted?

For instance, if you applied for the February intake, your application will automatically be carried forward and considered for the next available intake within the same academic year, and so on.

Your application remains active in our pool of candidates, and it may be selected if space becomes available or if additional funding is confirmed.

However, being waitlisted does not guarantee that you will receive the scholarship. Selection still depends on the overall applicant pool and available funding for that next intake.

Do I Need to Submit Anything Again?

No.
You do not need to submit any new documents or reapply for the scholarship.

Everything already in your file will be used when your application is reconsidered. There is also no need to send follow-up emails to express continued interest, as your interest is already recorded through your original application.

Should I Accept My Current Admission Offer?

If you were waitlisted for the scholarship but received an academic admission offer for your current intake, you have two options:

• If you accept the offer, you will proceed as a full fee-paying student for the current intake.
 • If you do not wish to proceed as a fee-paying student, you should not accept the current admission offer and remain on the scholarship waitlist for the next intake.

If you have already accepted your admissions offer for the current intake but only intend to study on a scholarship, please contact the Help Desk immediately using this link, and we will update your status in our system.

Key Things to Remember

• Being waitlisted means your application was strong and competitive
• Your application will be automatically considered for the next intake
• You do not need to reapply or submit new documents
• You do not need to express interest again
• You will only be contacted if your scholarship status changes
• Do not accept your academic offer if you only wish to proceed with the scholarship
 • If you accepted by mistake, the Help Desk can correct this for you
