How can I know whether I am English proficient or need to submit additional documentation?

At ALU, the primary language of instruction and collaboration is English. We celebrate many languages and backgrounds, but in order for students to thrive in the system with English as a main language, we require a minimum level of English at B2 proficiency of our applicants.

 

We ask all applicants to submit their national examination results and grade 10-12 transcripts for English proficiency review. The results of the following standardized tests are accepted as proof of English proficiency.

TOEL iBT TOEFL iBT - Overall score of 72 or above with minimum scores of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing
Pearson PTE Academic Pearson PTE Academic - Overall score of 54 with no element less than 51
TOEFL Essentials TOEFL Essentials - Overall score of 9 and above with no single element below 7.5
DuoLingo (paid version) DuoLingo - Overall score of 100 and above with no single element below 90.
Cambridge English: First (FCE) Cambridge English: First (FCE) - Grade C and above
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - Grade C and above
Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - Grade C and above
Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE) Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE) - Pass the ISE II (B2) or more advanced tests: ISE III(C1), ISE IV(C2).
University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE) University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE) - Pass (750) and above
University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE) University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE) - Pass (750) and above.

*All submitted exam results must be no older than two years.
