The ALU Presidential Grant is a need-based grant awarded to students on the basis of demonstrated financial need, not merit.
You can apply for the ALU Presidential Grant in your Admitted Student Portal under the Finance section under “ALU Presidential Grant”. You will only see this tab if you meet the threshold of demonstrated financial need to be considered for the grant.
Additionally, you must complete your application for the ALU Presidential Grant in order to apply for any other ALU scholarships.
We use a standard method to assess your demonstrated financial need and establish how much of your ALU education you and your family can afford.
We award grants at three different levels according to an applicant’s demonstrated financial need. The maximum amount offered for students attending ALC Mauritius is $5000 USD and for students attending ALU Rwanda is $1250 USD. The grant amounts apply for all four years.
Financial need is partially determined by:
- Household monthly earnings estimate (submitted on the “Calculate your tuition costs” page)
- Payslips for each household earner (submitted as part of your ALU Presidential Grant application)
- Bank statements for each household earner (submitted as part of your ALU Presidential Grant application)

Our financial aid team will review your ALU Presidential Grant application to verify all submitted financial information. Once our team has verified the accuracy and completeness of all submitted documents and information, you will be notified of your ALU Presidential Grant decision.
Please continue on in your Admitted Student Portal while you await your grant decision.
If awarded, the ALU Presidential Grant will appear on your invoice as a fee waiver. The ALU Presidential Grant applies to tuition fees ONLY.
